On July 27th the AAA (Advanced Accelerator Association Promoting Science & Technology) announced the release of special Hello Kitty goods “Science x Hello Kitty,” a collaboration between the International Linear Collider and Sanrio’s Hello Kitty. The aim is to help people relate to cutting edge science and promote the ILC throughout the world through this internationally popular character.

A press conference was held in Tokyo on the same day attended Linear Collider Collaboration Director Dr. Lyn Evans and Dr. Hitoshi Murayama of Kavli IPMU.

The event unveiled t-shirts, keychains, ballpoint pens and other goods with Hello Kitty sitting on an ILC cryomodule, which contains the cavity where electrons and positrons accelerate. The goods will be sold first in the Tohoku region starting on August 15th. A portion of proceeds will be donated to efforts to bring the ILC to Japan.
