Director General Horie of the Southern Iwate Regional Development Bureau to become Vice-President of Iwate Prefectural University

Starting on April 1

On March 30th, Iwate Prefectural University (President: Prof. Atsuto Suzuki) announced that Mr. Atsushi Horie, currently the Director General of the Southern Iwate Regional Development Bureau, would be resigning his post as of March 31st to become Vice-President and managing director of IPU (in charge of general affairs). His contract will last one year starting on April 1st. He will also become Vice-President and managing director of IPU’s Junior Colleges in Morioka and Miyako.

Mr. Horie is originally from Morioka City. After graduating from the Faculty of Law at Tohoku University, he was hired as an Iwate Prefectural Government employee in 1982. He has held posts such as the Deputy Director of the Iwate Board of Education, Deputy Director General of the Department of Prefectural Land Development. He has been Director General of the Southern Iwate Regional Development Bureau since 2015.

Additional news from IPU: Current Chair of the IPU Board, Mr. Toshiyuki Takamaeda, will have his post taken over by Mr. Tatsuo Endo, who is the current Vice-President of IPU. His contract will start on April 1st and last four years. Mr. Endo also served as Director General of the Southern Iwate Regional Development Bureau before Mr. Horie.
