Guest talks by Professor Takehiko Saito of JGU in Mainz, Germany (Nuclear Physics) about the International Linear Collider (hosted by Iwate ILC Promotion Council and Save Iwate) started on November 6th, with the first class held in the Morioka Reconstruction Support Center in Morioka City. He will give cutting-edge guest classes for elementary and middle schools in Iwate until the 13th.

20 people including Morioka residents attended. Professor Saito’s presentation included the beginning of the universe and research being conducted in different countries. “The universe is our home, and we feel like we want to know more about it,” said Saito on how researchers relate to their work.

Professor Saito explains that the realization of ILC will mean Iwate becoming a central part of the world, saying “People from all over the world will come to Tohoku, so you will all need to learn more about the world. I’d really like you to direct your attention to the world and step out into it.”
