The Iwate Prefecture ILC Promotion Council (Chair: Kunihisa Yamura, chair of the Federation of Iwate Chambers of Commerce) held a meeting for their board of directors on June 10th at a Morioka hotel. We are in an important time for the national government’s decision on the ILC, so they affirmed a policy to strengthen their efforts to petition the ruling national party to realize the ILC, as well as do more to spread information about the ILC.

Around 40 people were in attendance. Their plans for the year include joining forces with KEK (Japan’s High Energy Accelerator Research Organization) and AAA (Advanced Accelerator Association) to work to disseminate information on the ILC throughout the country. As part of those efforts, they plan to use social media and host symposiums.

They also plan to visit the Liberal Democratic Party’s headquarters and related government organizations on June 12th along with the Tohoku ILC Promotion Council and the Association of Governors of Hokkaido and Tohoku. They will visit again in September. Chair Yamura said, “This is the hardest part before realizing the ILC. We will work with Iwate Prefecture and related organizations to increase awareness of the ILC among the people of Japan.”
