Due to the recent changes in the ILC plans, the Panel of Experts at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has reinstated their Technical Design Report Verification Working Group. They had their second meeting on March 2nd at MEXT where they discussed regulations and risks associated with the ILC project.

Ten members were in attendance, and Nomura Research Institute gave a report on their survey and analysis. While the plans/construction for the accelerator and underground cavity do fall outside of existing law regulations, the ILC would be a facility that would have a large effect on society, and it would be crucial to create independent standards and regulations specifically for the ILC.

The institute also urged the need for discussions on how to maintain and regulate the facility after operations at the ILC were finished.

The members then discussed how to go about building the underground tunnel. Their third meeting will be held within the month.
