The Morioka Regional Development Bureau of the Iwate Prefectural Government has created original postcards with the ILC on them to be sent for New Year’s greetings. They go on sale November 1st.

On the side where you fill out the address, Iwate mascot Sobacchi stands with Miyagi/Sendai mascot Musubimaru, with the ILC cryomodule in between. On the bottom is the message “Bring the ILC to Japan!”

The Morioka Regional Development Bureau worked with the Iwate Prefecture ILC Promotion Council, Iwate Printing Industry Association, Morioka Central Post Office, and other organizations to print 28,000 postcards. Each sells for 62 yen a piece. This is the fifth year of this project.

Aya Kawasaki, planning officer of the Morioka Regional Development Bureau’s Planning Promotion Division, said, “Postcards are meant to be sent out of the prefecture, so we hope to use that characteristic to get more people aware of the ILC.”
